Installing update KB841873 caused a scheduled task to fail. The task is the VBS script to set a restore point which I have set to do every 24 hours.

After the update, the task would start but fail to set the restore point. I tried resetting several things in the task scheduler to get it to work and could not.

Since I had installed several updates it took me a while to determine which one caused the problem. After I found it I discovered it was an update to the task scheduler.

I do not have this update installed at the this time.

Has anyone encountered this or has any suggestion what I could do to solve it?

    Thanks Charles

I had read through that and found the work around. This left me with the question about this update being included in SP2. Will it then cause me a problem? Also, in the meantime when I go to the update site to check for critical updates, I will have to exclude this one every time.

From what I've been reading, the answer on SP2 is yes - SP2 is "cummulative" and any critical update not installed, will be.

To give some perspective on this: prior to SP1, I rolled back one or two updates that gave me problems. This is a long time ago and don't remember which. When I installed SP1, never gave me any problems. So my experience on this issue is positive.

    Regards - Charles
