I would like to do something to improve my DSL modem connection speed. There is software out there (modem boost) that says it will do just
that, however I have read where the ONLY thing that will help DSL speed in Windows XP is a small registry entry. I sent modem boost an email asking about this, got no answer. Any advise?

devildog#4--No experience with Modem Boost. However, here is a site where you can get free advice on boosting your connection speed.
    http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
Try the test to get recommendations and also use DrTCP.
I doubt Modem Boost is going to do much better.
Yes, there are, and the DSLReports tweaks are, Registry tweaks to boost your connection speed. However, I doubt you are going to see a 300% improvement. And your DSL supplier may have put a cap on the speed of your service, so you could run into that. Do you know how close you are to the speed your DSL supplier has represented you should get? DSL suppliers commonly charge more for higher speed.

I'm wary of so-called Modem boost software. I used to mess with some so-called boosters years ago with 9x but had really convinced myself that it DID work. The reality is, it did stuff all. Have no experience with DSL or ADSL boosters, but suspect they are the same.
With dialup you can get far better results with correctly setting the hardware and software Modem compression settings and some other error correcting settings as well as running the latest drivers. I suspect DSL will have similar windows tweaks that are all that are needed?
