Spam in Outlook Express E-Mail

Hi,
A friend of mine uses OUtlook express to read her mail.

Whenever she gets spam she blocks the email address so it will automatically go into her deleted items folder.

Well, she received a spam message as follows:

From: "Shawn Ballard" <leorobillard@verizon.net>
To: "Leorobillard" <leorobillard@verizon.net>
Sent: Wednesday, July 28, 2004 11:49 AM
Subject: Leo.robillard around 77 or

When she went to block the email, instead of blocking the spam's email address her email was blocked. This is because the person that sent it somehow managed to say the message came from my friend.

How can these people send a message using my friend's email address. By doing so, she can't block them because she wil block herself.

Any suggestions to help her remedy this situation. We have downloaded Mail Washer and is trying to use this to block mails.

I use MailWasher Pro myself and am quite happy with the product.

 

Thanks for your help. We'll continue using Mail Washer since it doesn't seem as though this "spoofing" is going to stop soon.
