i Recently Bought a WebcAm, and right now The whole thin actin Funny. I insalled the drivers from the CD-Rom. I rebooted, and it gets stuk on the Windows 98 setup. and stays there for eternity. So I rebooted in Safemode, and removed the Driver, cause it was showing up red. And I reinstalled the Software, Rebooted let it do it's thing, Plugged it back in, and the **** thing still won't work, it just sits there at little screen. and in the close program Menu it shows that it's not responding, and it continually does that. I Even Tried Activating it in Safe mode and all it says is that there is no Video Capture Hardware. It doesnt make sence cause the **** thing is plugged in. It's fustrating. Help?

pr0digalAngel welcome to the board :)
Can you tell us what brand the WebcAm is? What version of W98 are you using? Does the docs that came with the webcam says it's compatible with the version of W98 you're using?

Oh apologies. Umm Win98, yes it's Compatible. TE/CA is the manufacturer. And it came with a USB cable.

LDTate brings up a good point. If the webcam software says it is for 98 Second Edition, the original 98 is not close enough. There are huge differences in 98 and 98 SE concerning USB ports and their drivers. If you have the original edition of 98, and it needs 98SE, it will just refuse to do anything.
BTW, 98 or 98Se does not have USB support in Safe Mode, it is a condition of windows where only minimal drivers are loaded, enough to repair or remove a problem.

I'll take it Win98 SE. I don't beleive Win98 FE is compatible with USB.

On a lot of those webcams, you can't (shouldn't) install software or drivers when the camera is plugged in. Is this what you did?
