When I go to Aire's link to an article in InfiniSource, I get a dark blue background and black font. Very hard to read. I have to go to Preferences and change the color pref to "use my chosen colors.... ". The page background changes to white and can be read. When I go back to the BBS, I have to change the pref back to "Always use the colors and background.... "

Is this a problem with my Mozilla install (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040616) or is everyone having the same?

This doesn't happen if using IE.

    Hi Bill,

Give me a link, and I'll check it out for you. I see that you did check it out in IE.

    Bill / Ramona

My Moz 1.7 / IE6 responds the same as Bill's.
Font size in IE is noticeable larger. Field positions for some of the screen attributes are not the same. As Bill stated, difficult to read black print on blue screen.

I tried both Moz1.7.1 and IE6, and I cannot see any difference. The only blue area was with the menus on the left side, but they are identical.
Only difference that I was bombarded with popups in IE, and none in Mozilla.
If there is any other place to look at, please advise.

Under "Quick Links" at the top of the page, Windows-Help.Net gives the blue background. The others in "Our other sites" work just fine.....

    Bill and Dennis,

Like Westside, the page renders perfectly in Mozilla 1.7.1, but in IE the fonts are HUGE! I wonder what the two of you have in common, that doesn't allow the page to render correctly? I know that both of you are experienced users, but let me ask some basic questions of you both:

Are either of you using a Theme
What extensions, if any, are you using
    Is JavaScript enabled
In Preferences | Appearance are you both using default settings

    Javascript for Navigator only.

    I don't see a selection for Defaults in Pref>Appearence

    Hi Bill,

By default setting, I meant are you using what was there, and you haven't changed any setting. There is some setting somewhere that is keeping you both from being able to view that page. What that is, I haven't yet figured out.

    Hi Ramona,

I have not changed anything in Appearance so I guess the defaults are there.

I have since installed Moz 1.7.1 and get the same thing.

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.1) Gecko/20040707

Using IE 6, I get a white background with the left frame and right scroll bar in a turquoise color.

Not a big ole hairy deal---- if you happen to think of anything.....Thanks :)

    Bill and Dennis,

Do either of you have an ATI Video Card, and if so do you have the latest drivers? There is a well documented problem with the ATI cards, and a bug report here:
    http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104992

A couple of things you can try:
    Delete: localstore.rdf

If no joy, then create a new Profile. You don't have to move all your Profile data, just create the Profile and see if the page renders the same.

As most of us "using the other browser" have become accustomed to, views not displaying the same as IE is not new. Must admit, did not expect differences when displayed in stock issue (?) Mozilla's.
    One question to Bill....
I'm using Nvidia Ti 4200 graphic card with default settings. Screen set at 800x600, 32 Bit, 85 Hertz, 96 DPI. Happen to know which v-card your using?

ATI 3D-Rage XL Video Adapter, Samtron CRT monitor.

This is a real cheapo video card. I have my screen res set at 1024X768, 32 bit, 90 Htz, 120 DPI and using the Microsoft driver that comes with XP.

I'm going to try Ramona's suggestion and get back.

    Good news Ramona and Dennis,

Created a new profile and now it works just like it should.

Thanks Ramona, You da Man!! (so to speak) :D

Edit: I have determined that the problem is in the prefs.js file. While trying to get my mail settings and such into the new profile, I renamed prefs.js to badprefs and copied prefsjs from the original profile. That caused the blue background as before.

I went back to the new prefs.js and the site displayed properly. I am going to investigate what part of prefs.js causes the problem.

I'll be back. So sayeth Ahnold. :D

    Bill,

If that was the fix for you then it may have been the chrome folder files that were bad... We'll see if Dennis comes up with the same results.

    Dennis,

Try deleting localstore.rdf, and the chrome folder before you try the new Profile.

Did the above, unfortunately no change. Mozilla continues to ouput black print on blue background (on stated URL only). I believe ALL of of us have "large font" size on IE view. Want to move to FireFox (??) when it goes Final. Will create a new profile at that time. This "nuisance" is rare and not a daily occurrence.
    A thank you to all.

    Ramona and Dennis L,

I got in a mess trying to change back and forth with the prefs.js and I did a clean install on Moz 1.7.1.

I had installed on top of old mozilla 1.6 then 1.7 then 1.7.1. Maybe that had something to do with it?

At any rate I'm OK now. Will keep an eye on it to see if it changes in the future.

BTW I never did have the Huge fonts in IE.

    Thanks for your help.

It does not really matter, but one of these days, I will have to find what you were talking about. Quick links on top of the page? The same page given in the original link? And, where in the page.
I did a Search, in the site for Quick links, and came up with a lot of them. That was the only anomaly. A bit sloppy, with Site Menu out of place. BUt I don't see anything strange, in Moz nor IE.
