i'm having some weird xp home edition problems and i think it has to do with the administrator account and registry.

i fully installed some software on my machine with an administrator account, but when i attempt to run the software, it says it can not write to the registry because it was not installed by an admin. then it shuts down. i'm having problems installing other software too...

    what gives?

    thanks in advance.

Could be that your admin account is corrupt. Hopefully not but it does happen.

First thing to try if you have either an XP install CD or a folder on the hard drive named I386 is to click on the start button, then on run, and put the following in the run line then click OK:
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
Post back with the results and we can do some other things if need be.
