I have one hard drive divided into 3 software drives. I installed an Epson scanner yesterday and now my logical Drive D shows the file type as BD5 instead of the usual drive icon. how do I change it back to the drive icon.

    Thank You

    Hi jorjab
I'm going take it you had C, D and E before the scanner was installed? What happens when you double click the BD5?
BTW, what windows OS are you running?

win98SE. the problem has disappeared after I went to device manager and did something, but I am not sure what it was.

I can terminate this problem at this point. Not sure what would happen if I had clicked BD5 to try to open, could see the drive properties but Explorer would not recognize it to search the drive. This problem appears ok now.

    Thanks

Does you scanner by any chance have the initials BD5?

It probably just moved all the drive letters down one.

No scanner not have those letters - drives were not rearranged juts the file associations tyoe for dirve D. Drives c and e remained associated with the picture of a drive.
