For a while now I have had an annoying toolbar open in Internet explorer.
    It's called 'bashfordwma'

I have tried Adaware6,Spybot,CWshredder,NoAdware and Spysweeper but none of these have got rid of it.I have also deleted ALL it's registry entries using Registry First Aid but still it starts with IE.When I click on it to close it,it does close but just opens again with every new page I go to.Can anyone help me get rid of it?

Just to put on the pressure,I have never put a problem up on these boards that you good people have not managed to solve for me,so keep up the good work. :D

If you have run the latest versions of Ad-aware (build 181) and Spybot 1.3 with fully updated definitions then I suggest you download HijackThis through Quicklinks in my sig, save it to a folder on your hard drive, run it and post the log here. Fix nothing until one of the resident experts has looked at it.

Moving this thread to Security/Virus/Spyware (new Board policy whenever we request an HJT log to be posted) and putting an edit into the thread title.

    Annoying Toolbar

Have you done a manual registry search for that?
Find all instances of it and delete them (backup regisrty first)
Whats loading at startup? It would be interesting to see what is loading at boot and see if there is something odd there.
Also boot the machine in safe mode and run spybot and adaware then
    Hope this helps

Another Prob now too  I downloaded the newer version of Spybot (1.3) but when I try to Update it it won't do it,it keeps saying "bad checksum" instead of updating.I have tried uninstalling an installing again and have also downloaded it from a a couple of different mirrors in case the d/l was corrupt but it still won't update.

Don't you just LOVE computing. :(

    Yes I uninstalled it.
I think this Toolbar comes from downloading MSN Messenger Plus.

Info about this run item. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSN Update] dllcon.exe
    http://se.trendmicro-europe.com/enterprise/security_info/ve_detail.php?Vname=WORM_RBOT.EH
Search for and delete/modify the registry entries in safe mode, while following the instructions below.

You would do well to uninstall Messenger Plus! 3. It should be listed in add/remove programs. Reboot if prompted and delete the folder from Program Files, otherwise delete the folder in safe mode, while following the instructions below.

Scan again with HijackThis and place a check next to the following remaining entries. Close ALL other windows and click fix.

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\System\panels\blank.ht m

Right click My Computer and choose properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off. OK out.

Go to start>run and type msconfig, hit enter. On the boot.ini tab, check the box next to /safeboot and OK. Yes to restart. This will restart your computer in safe mode.

You will need to show hidden files and folders, as well as system files.

Open C:\WINDOWS\system32 and locate the file dllcon.exe. Right click and choose properties, then remove the read only attribute and apply. OK out and then delete the file.
Open C:\Program Files and delete the folder MOVECA***.
    Open C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB and rename realsched.exe to realsched.old
Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all usernames.
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
Open My Computer, right click Local disk C: and choose properties, then disk cleanup. Check all boxes except compress old files and OK.

Reboot, surf a bit and scan your PC with RAV. Check the box to autoclean. If any files are infected and uncleanable, click the report button then copy and paste it here, along with a new HijackThis log.

Do you use a proxy server?

    Quite welcome.

BTW, forgot about your problem with Spybot. :( Have you tried updating again since cleaning out? One of those nasties may have been interfering.

Still don't know what the problem is with Spybot, everytime I try to download updates I get "checksum error ".I have uninstalled it and I'm using AdAware 6 Professional. Can you recommend another prog that does what Spybot does?
I have NoAdware but don't have it on my machine yet,is it any good?
I also have Spysweeper but I'm sure it was causing a problem last time I had it on,can't remember exactly what though....old age = bad memory. :D

Suggest you use SpywareBlaster - recommended by Spybot - gives permanent drive-by protection against (currently) 3089 nasties.

    NoAdware

In addition to SpywareBlaster, install IESpyads.

Have never used SpySweeper, so have no recommendation. IMO, there is no replacement for Spybot. Search around net-integration, support site for Spybot. You may find someone else has already had the same problem and found an answer. I'll look around also.
