Trying to help my brother who is having trouble sending email. The messages go directly to the Sent items older without going through the Out box. They definitely are not being sent and none of the recipients have received them.

Any suggestion should to resolve this?

If your brother is using NAV 2003/4 (not sure of 2002) OE must be set up so that it does not hang up after receiving and sending. May be the same for other AV that check email too.

OE > Tools > Options> Connection - Hang up .... must be unchecked.

Reason - OE sends to a hidden server run by NAV which checks the mail and then sends it. As far as OE is concerned the mail has been sent - and appears in the Sent Items folder - so it hangs up and the NAV server is unable to send it.

If the Send Messages Immediately (Tools > Options > Send) is checked they will not go to the Outbox.

Thanks for the input, I'll tell my brother and see if that works for him.
