In spybot > Tools uninstall information select then delete items that wont uninstall.

Are you logged in as a user with admin rights, when editing the reg ?

Frankly I wouldnt bother, there will always be some left-overs (clutter) in the registry :D

Don't give up, yet. There is one more thing to try. XP will execute an instruction from the Autoexec.bat file, if something is there. Put this command in the Autoexec.bat, and reboot.
    c:\windows\regedit.exe /d hkey_local_machine\software\altnet
If Autoexec.Bat does not exist, use Notepad to create, Save As "c:\autoexec.bat ", with the quotes. This way it doesn't end up saved as C:\Autoexec.Bat.Txt.

No. If it's asking to replace, the file exists. Go to start>run and type sysedit. It will open a window with 4 pages, the first being autoexec.bat. Copy/paste the command line in and close. Yes when prompted to save. Reboot and remove the line.

Amazing! I'm baffled, but I'm going to keep looking for a solution. Will let you know when I find something else to try. It's not hurting anything, I just hate to admit to defeat with something like this. ;)

WooHooo! Just made my day! :D Were the instructions I gave for setting permissions correct? Also wanted to ask if you ever ran RegSeeker in the clean registry mode? Your computer would thank you with performance improvement. I have never had any problems deleting everything it finds, but that does not mean you won't. Make sure the backup box in the lower left corner is checked before deleting anything. Select all and right click in the results pane to choose delete. I generally reboot at this point and check out my programs to ensure they are still working properly, then run it again. I do this until no more entries are found.

    Thanks for posting back!! ;)

Thanks. Not sure why the updates would make a difference. I may have to take a closer look at SP2 to see if it changes something with permissions for accounts with admin rights.

Good to hear you used RegSeeker. Check out the options on the Histories button too. ;)

BTW, you are quite welcome. Happy to have helped! :)
