Hello. I have migrated most "everything" I need from my old computer to new, including my Mozilla Profile, all my e-mail, etc. Is there ANYWAY to move the secret password manager file so that I can regain access to all my usual websites w/out trying to guess passwords etc?

I cannot isolate the file so far.
    Thank you, KAP

    Welcome to the Forum, consultkap!

    Hi KAP,

The file is contained in your *.slt folder. Your password file is named somenumbers.s - e.g., 12345678.s. Make a note of the file which you transferred from the OLD PC. On the new PC open Mozilla and go to a site which requires a password. This allows Password Manager to create a file (somenumbers.s).

Rename the NEW password file X12345678.s.
Rename the OLD password file 12345789.s - the same name as the NEW password file (without the X).

    That should do it.

Let us know if you have further questions.

    Transfer Password File

Thanks, Ramona! I will try this. I have already used the new computer at several sites w/ PW's, which means that new file # should be set up. I really appreciate your quick response.
    Regards, KAP
    :)

Follow up. I checked the old computer's .slt file. It has two ######.s files. BOTH were transferred to the new computer with the profile and the .slt file. The new computer is using the old numbers (I checked change time & date when I used a PW on a site) but it did NOT create a new ######.s file. The old file is not, however, providing PW's on any sites that I have not been to & re-entered a PW while using the new computer. Any ideas?
    Thanks again, KAP

    Side effect??? Prob downloading

Ramona-- I actually got this PW file transfer to work last night. BUT now I cannot download files. I am wondering if one has anything to do with the other.

I cannot download files from my web mail with NETSCAPE browser, and I receive the error message that the TEMP file (source file) cannot be read.

Can I copy the TEMP file from somewhere else to restore whatever file has gotten corrupted there somehow?

    Thanks for your help. KAP

    Hi KAP,

    Look in: C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\Mozilla\components
    Delete the compreg.dat file
You should be able to download now.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.

    Ramona
