I recently did a format c: and reloaded windows 98 to get rid of a malicious browser hijack. Now when I save an image file from the IE6 web browser, the save as dialog box does not show or list the files that are already saved in the target directory. Windows explorer seems to work fine. I have tried the settings in folder and view options but the save as dialog window still comes up blank. Can anyone help?

If you haven't saved any files through IE since the reinstall, it will be blank since the formatting process wiped the data from the drive.

If you have saved files since the reformat, in the Save As window, click on the drop-down arrow in the "Save as Type" box and choose something other than what's selected and see if the previously saved images appear.

I've already tried that. Windows explorer shows the other image files that are already in the directory but when I right click on an image and select "save picture as" the dialog box is blank and list nothing that is already in the directory.. I'm stumped but I do appreciate your input.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options, click on the "Delete Files" button, check the box for "all offline content," click OK.

After the cache is finished emptying, try saving a picture again and all of the previously saved ones will show.

I was getting the same results you were....probably because I haven't emptied the browser's cache in a month or so....and emptying the cache fixed it.

Received this PM from Bob. Am posting it here for others who encounter the same glitch:

I stumbled onto the solution to my problem. I went into system tools and told it to do an ie-explorer repair. The problem went away. Something must not have sync'd when I installed ie6 through windows update originally. Many thanks for responding to my query and your help.
