I somehow set reverb on my windows XP and now can't seem to determine how to remove it. I have tried the control panel, but just can't seem to find what I need. Any help out there will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Sorry, how much detail is enough?

I didn't really know how much details you need to help me out. Since, I really can't remember how I got this on my PC to begin with, the details are real vague. I know that I did not download it from anything. It was on my PC, I think part of my windows XP. I tried to look for a setting in the control panel, but just cannot find anything there. I just don't know where else to look. I get the reverb effect when I log onto my ISP and any other time that I get sounds. Really dumb, I know. Any help would be appreciated. Or if you know a specific question to ask me, maybe I can remember. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Just a stab in the dark but check your sound card settings.
If its a Creative sound card, you may have something called AudioHQ. If so,
open it and look at the EAX Control Panel. When you open the EAX CP, it
    has a setting called Reverb.

    Hope this helps.

    amelulu,

Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control

In the bottom, left corner of the Volume Control window, click the Advanced button. (If that button isn't present, click Options from tool menu and click on Advanced Controls.)

    The Advanced button should appear.

Remove the check from '3D Effect' (Reverb).

    No need to reboot.

I looked for the 3d box and i dont have it, just a couple sliders for bass
and treble. Would it be the type of sound card that determines what
shows under Advanced? (I have a creative audugy).

    thanks,

    Hi savagcl...

Must be...I have a Creative Sound Blaster PCI 128 and I also don't have the "Advanced" button. If I click on the Options on the top the "Advanced Controls" are greyed out.

Ah, well, creative is not the best of sound cards anyway but most PC's
seem to come with it installed already.
Hopefully, when i gather up some more money, i can get a better one.

    thanks for the feedback,

Thanks for your suggestions, but no cigar!

I tried all of your suggestions, but did not come up with a solution to get rid of this awful reverb. When I go to Volume Control and select optitions, I get a choice of properties or advanced. Properties allows me to select volume for various setting for recording, playback and other, none of which have any reverb or 3D effect. When I select advance there are slider bars that allow me to set bass and treble or set for digital speakers. It does show that I have Conexant AMC Audio at the lower left corner of the VC window, I assume that this is my sound card.
Any one else out there that may like to try a stab at this, there is nothing to loose and much to gained (by me! He-he-he!) It is really not funny, just pathetic! Thanks for the help.

    Reverb in Xp

    Had same problem:
It happened when setting up the microphone.
I was not able to reverse the action .
One way to remove the reverb is to re-install Xp.
    Hope its helps.

Epilogue. One month after Removing the reverb by re-installing Xp, Someone setup the microphone again and the reverb is back.
Still looking for a simpler solution (Than re-installing XP)
    Bye
