My brother ( not around to help now and I'm a novice) put XP Pro onto my computer and added my name and my wife's name as user accounts which works fine and lets me choose either at Welcome screen without a password. I have been fighting trying to get rid of 2 different spywares and have been told scanning with Ad-aware and SpyBot works better in Safe Mode. When I get to Safe Mode I have the choice of my wife's name or Administrator which requires a password, how do I know the password?

If I just use my wife's name I don't get all the spyware fighting programs I've downloaded onto my desktop using my user name in normal mode. Since I don't have the option (in Safe Mode) of selecting my user name, I'm hoping all the Ad-Aware, etc. will show up under Administrator if I can login if this is correct thinking. As I said I'm still learning about computers (especially XP Pro), is there an easy solution for this? And boy I haven't even got around to asking about my spyware problems yet. Thanks!

    Mike

It may be the Administrator account was set up without a password. If that's the case, clicking on it to select it and then pressing the Enter key on the keyboard will work.

If your brother passworded it, then a call to your brother to get the password is in order.

If the programs you've downloaded have been installed, they should be available in your wife's account on the Start Menu if not the Desktop.

If the programs have been download but not yet installed, move the files you downloaded into the All Users>Desktop folder where they should, as the name implies, be available to all user accounts.
