I have a Windows 2003 Enterprise. I am using NT Backup to backup a local drive. When I run it manually it runs fine. When I schedule it, it runs and at the very end of the report it show "media failed to mount ". If I go into restore, the files are there and I can restore them.

Why am I getting this message?

correction, not that one. We applied 817688 per Microsoft.

Your patch listed it was for small business server. I am running W2003 Enterprise.

Will it still work on it?

    Thanks

Not out of space and it doesn't seem to matter what tape I use. I can run it manually just not schedule a backup. When I look under the retore, the media shows up as free. So when I schedule it, I use new media. I have don't this type of backup many times. I am just getting very frustrated. It is the file server for 150 people. I really need scheduled backups.

    Thanks

    Sue

Ok, first off, lets try adding /UM to the scheduled job.
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;300439

If that doesnt work, try backing up something much smaller than the tape. like 1G.

After all that, post your backup log and lets see what its trying to do. This would also be a great canidate to give microsoft a call on (if the above doesnt work).
