This is an interesting issue. My enviornment here is exchange, and users using outlook. I setup an internet email account as well on outlook, and it works fine, but when I use the from field, and try to use the internet email as the from, it resolves, but I get the message stating
"You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user. "

This is annoying. When we send without the from field, it always comes from our exchange email, which is normal. This is happening in outlook 2000. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

You have 2 accounts set up in Outlook, when you create the new email are you in the Exchange account or the Internet account? Startting the new email in the right account should solve this problem, another option is to go into Tools > Options > Delegates and add the proper permissions.

    HTH :)

You can also create another profile to seperate these 2 accounts.
You can go control panel->mail to setup a new profile.
