Ive got an old IBM Aptiva which is just jam packed full of junk, spyware, you name it. I want to format the heap, but i cant for some reason. The startup disk method doesnt work (ive tried both normal and SP1). And for some reason pressing F1-F12, doesnt bring up that screen to change into safe-mode or go into command thingy.

    Help could be much appreciated...

If you have a bootable windows xp or some bootable OS disc go to your c:\windows\command folder or find "fdisk.exe" open that up and press y for large disk support, then delete all traces of partitions and exit the program properly close out the ms dos window and restart the computer. you should have unallocated all the space on the disk and the windows software will think it is a brand new drive and allocate the space and format properly. i don't know what os you are running now but it will work on most OSes.

    Downloadable fdisk here: http://radified.com/Files/

Right hand column - two versions, if all you need is fdisk then the 2nd one.
