Geez, with help like this ...........#$%*??</?

Lets get back to Billy Bob .... most intelligent inquiry here. Are your IRQ #7 devices really conflicting or are they just sharing. Chewy, you never really answered the question, at least not to my satisfaction. Hell, I have 6 devices sharing IRQ 9 in one of my machines and believe me, it doesn't lock up!

Have you tried resetting your configuration (enable) in the Plug and Play section of your bios? This may take care of things all by itself. Also, if you are not using your modem any longer, yes, remove it from your machine after you uninstall it from your device manager. Just changing the modem interupt in your bios does nothing . This setting was for your WOL.

Disabling serial ports will free additional IRQ's, but I don't think this is necessary at this point. Same with this advice about swiching from a PS2 mouse. Heck, why not get a nice 386 and run DOS instead of Win2K ......... for that matter, eliminate the mouse altogether ....... use the keyboard. C'mon guys!

Chewy, you said you had onboard video and now have a 32mb NVidia ........ does your motherboard have a jumper on it to also disable the onboard video or are you showing two adapters in the control panel. Never heard of a motherboard with both onboard AGP and an AGP slot so , I'll let that speak to the advice about using PCI slot 1.

Last comment was about disabling legacy sound wherever that came from. That was a valid piece of information and should also be tried.

Not trying to create any animosity here, but be careful with some of the guidance posted. I'm sure it's all well intentioned and I'll leave it at that.
    ;)

    12 microsoft apci-compliant system
14, 15 primary and secondary ide channel
7 Via USB Universal host controller
7 Via USB Universal host controller
7 Via AC'97 Audio Controller WDM
7 NVIDIA RIVA TNT Model 64/Model 64 pro
7 Realtek rtl8139 family pci fast ethernet nic
    8 system cmos/real time clock
    13 numeric data processor
    6 standard floppy disk controller
1 standard 101/102-key or microsoft natural ps/2 keyboard

Am I totaly missing something or does 2k Not have what would show as PCI steering in 98 ??

Or do we not have the full IRQ listing ?

If IRQ 12 is also asigned to the PS2 Mouse port in the BIOS, that could be a problem.

Also what about IRQ 2 which is the Programable Interrupt Controller in 98 ? Does this not exist in 2K ?

Also I do not see any controllers ( on 14 & 15 ) for the IDE channels
