    Hi,

I must have messed up something in my Windows XP configuration (SP 2, v.2149), because when trying to download any .zip file from the web, I don't have the option to save it to a chosen location. The archive is being downloaded automatically after clicking on a zip. link and opens after that. It hard to save such an archive! I use WinZip v9. I've restored installation defaults of WinZip but it didn't solve the problem.
I suppose it needs some tweaking in Windows but where?

What browser are you using? Where are they downloading to?
There is a place to specify which folders to use in WinZip. Go to 'options', then 'configuration', then click the 'folders' tab. The other thing I noticed is you are running 'sp2', could this be causing the problem? Is WinZip compatible with sp2?

I'm using NetCaptor that is an IE add-on. However, I'm confident that the problem lies elsewhere, since after installing the RC 2 of SP2, downloading zip files using WinZip was working fine.
When running SP2 you are being warned if you're about to save a file like exe, zip, rar. I fear that I chose not to display that warning at zip files and the result of it is that after clicking on a link with zip, the file starts being downloaded without asking whether to open or to save it.

Maybe SP2 RC2 users could help me as as they probably know better what I am speaking about.

Open any windows explorer window and click tools>folder options. Click on the file types tab and scroll through the list to find zip. Click on it once and then click the advanced button. Put a checkmark in the box next to "confirm open after download" .

Until you can find a fix... right click on the file you want to download and select 'Save target as'. This should allow you to select the location. HTH

Done. It works now. Thanks. It looked to me more complicated than it was. :)
