Hi. Not sure whether I've posted this in the proper forum, so I apologize in advance if I'm out of place. :)

I've long wanted to really figure out how to use Pegasus Mail. I've heard people in various forums discuss Pegasus whenever anyone asks about it -- and it generally has a reputation as being stable and has been around a long time.

But the UI of the darn thing stumps me everytime I decide to download and install it. Anyone out there a regular user?

Here's my first problem right up front -- is there a useful equivalent to "check mail" in Pegasus? For example, as most of you probably use Windows and OLE, you know there's a "Send/Recv" button with a drop-down menu which allows me to check email for either all or any individual email account.

But in Pegasus Mail, I'm stumped about anything equivalent. There seems to be a very small button or icon as I recall which allows you to check mail -- but NOTHING which I can find that allows me to select individual accounts.

And my other big problem is related to the whole idea of "email accounts." I can't find a really easy-to-understand way in Pegasus Mail to set up several email accounts.

Anyway, those are the two biggest issues just for starters. Anyone out there an accomplished Pegasus user willing to answer those questions, perhaps share other tips that would help someone coming from Outlook Express, Eudora, or PocoMail get Pegasus configured and running happily??

    Thanks,

    Gary Speer

Nope. Never used it. But I can throw this link at you to see if it helps?
Keep in mind it's specific to Real Time Enterprises, but most of the info should be generic?

According to #15, there's a globe icon to click on to send and receive?

The second question on this page may help you with the multi user settings?

    *edit*
    Found some more.

    Thanks, Daizy,

Those links were helpful. They didn't fully answer my questions, or at least I'll need to mull them over a bit. For one thing, some of the UI has changed and what's shown and spoken of on those sites is a bit outdated.

I suspect that Pegasus simply doesn't have a globel "check mail" button or function which allows individual accounts to be checked. Oddly enough, some people either don't understand or don't want that function. (See most of the forum discussions at mozillazine forums about their Thunderbird client, as an example.)

On the whole, I'll probably just end up sticking with PocoMail 3.1 or Outlook Express, or perhaps play around with Calypso some more. They do the trick for me. Guess I'm just kind of an obsessive "geek" about trying out various free email clients.

    Hi Gary:

We've met before on the PocoMail Forum.

Please give Courier (replacement for Calypso) a try, it's great and has
everything a person could possibly want - including an easy to understand
user interface and all the features of PocoMail, but without the UI "mess ".

The only thing that's possibly better is Outlook 2003, but that's "big bucks "
and it includes features that you may not need (and a "virus magnet ").
