    I have Thunderbird 0.7.1 installed.
I have 5 email accounts configured.
Under Tools\Account Settings, the main account is set as default. This is indicated by the bold font and the fact that the "set as default" button is inactive.

However, when I write a new email message, one of the other accounts is listed in the sender box...Not the default account, resulting in me manually changing this.

How can I correct this ?

    Hi 24jedi,

Are you using multiple identities, or separate accounts? I have tried to recreate what you're describing, and I can't. The default account always appears in the "From" field?

I have looked in the Thunderbird Knowledge Base, but no go for this specific problem.

Let me check out a few more resources, and if I find anything, I'll get back to you.

BTW, you need to upgrade to Thunderbird 0.7.2, due to the Shell Protocol Security Vulnerability. See these two threads:

Very Strange...It is back to using the default email account.

The difference between identities vs. accounts I am unclear about. The other accounts are really not for sending. Receiving only...accounts like webmaster@somedomain.com . I administer a webserver as well as a "spam" catch-all account. My default account is the one I use for sending and receiving

Thanks for the heads up on the shell protocol security.

Your help is much appreciated :)

    24jedi,

LOL, what are you, a Warlock, Magician? :D

I'm glad to hear it's working now, and hope that it continues to do so!

In addition to the Shell Protocol Security vulnerability, also look at the "Sticky" re: the Java 1.4.1 thru 1.4.2_04 Security vulnerability. You will need to update to 1.4.2_05 if you have any of the above installed.
