Are both pc's in the same workgroup ?
Do you have filesharing enabled on both pc's ?

I thought I would post back as I have spent a little bit more time on this again
and I have repeated the excercise of disabling both ICF and Norton personal
firewall and also sygate f wall that I had on the laptop and to my surprise
I could see the networked computers and enabling the firewalls back I was still able to view etc I am also aware settings can be changed within the firewalls setup but thses did not seem to have the desired effect and it seems also that ICF has no such control for networking although I was able all the time to share my internet connection ok.
I hope that this may help others
I just like to keep on going to get the desired result..

    Regards
    Rodger.
