Topic: Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

This error message was due to the W32sircom virus. I need to know which file to restore and how to retrieve it. I know that with Windows 95/ 98 it would be a run32.dll file that would need to be replaced with one on the Windows 9x CD.

Virus has been removed with Norton. Problem is I cannot execute any files or right-click and go to properties on any icons.

I have also been to the Symantic and Microsoft sites. Solutions did not help.

    Hiya

    Just got this:

    http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sircam.worm@mm.html

So, it seems as if its the Rundll32.exe that you need to extract.

    Regards
