    Hi

anyone knows why some of the cache files stored by Netscape (they dont have an extension) in the cache default directory won't open manually later?
For example, those from yahoo mail pages

    thanks

    Welcome to the Forum, ggreco!

    Hi Giul,

Unfortunately, the cache files in NS 7 no longer have file extensions. Users have had limited success in viewing them by various methods. You can, however, browse your cache by entering the folowing address in the Location Bar: about:cache.

I use IrfanView graphics viewer, and it works for viewing cached images. You can use the "Open" dialog box on the cache directory, click to highlight any file. A thumbnail preview appears every time you hit on an image file.

Once you identify the file type, then add the extension. For non graphic files, it's a different story...

I think that Cache text files should be openable by right clicking on them, and opening with Notepad or Wordpad. You can save them as .txt or, better as .rtf files. The problem is to find them.
