Basline Security Analizer install failure

Hi All: I have tried on a couple of occasions to install MS Basline Security Analyzer, but the install cannot be completed.

When I try to install it the install screen tells me that I do not have the latest and greatest update to Internet Explorer, even though I'm running version 6 with service pack 1. It asks me to download and install 6, which downloads fine but refuses to install, telling me that I have a later version than the one I just downloaded.

I'd really like to use the analyzer to check two remote LAN computers, but so far, no go.

Besides, how can I be running IE6 version newer than today's download?

Hi Martin

Todays download of IE6 is the same as yesterday's, no updates. That's why you are being told you have a newer version. Are you installing from a saved to your harddrive download?

 

Hi Dave: No, not this time, I chose open from current location on download.
I have copy saved, but if new dnld doesn't install, pretty sure old one won't either.
