    I want to stop anyone from downloading anything from the internet onto my computer without my say-so. Any suggestions?

    Simple. If they break the rule of no downloading then take away computer privledges. And don't give in to their whining and crying either!

    Open IE, click on Tools, Internet Options, and then click on the Security Tab. Select Internet in the Content Zone portion of the window and then click on the Custom Settings button. In the Security Settings window that opens scroll down to Downloads and change the setting in File Downloads from enable to disable. You might also want to also scroll down further to Installation of Desktop Items and also set it to disable.

    HTH. :)

    Is there a way to password protect access to the internet security options?

    The answer to your question is dependent on what version of Windows you are using. If you have Win95 or 98 the answer is No, there is no way to password protect these settings from within windows itself.

    If you are using Windows XP you could accomplish this in essence by setting up your own account as an Administrator and all other accounts as Limited. Limited accounts are not authorized to install software.

    I was able to find a shareware program that will allow you to secure these settings. I haven't used it myself so I don't know if it's what you're looking for or not. You can review it yourself at the following link;
