NS 7.1 install problems

    am attempting to install Netscape 7.1 on my winxp pro system.
    I cant get it to install & keep getting this message:
    "error uncompressing file C:\docume~1\dave\locals~1\temp\ns_temp\xpcom.xpi: 2 "
    Can anyone help?

    Welcome to the Forum, DHChase!

    Hi Dave,

    The first thing I would recommend is clearing your C:\Windows\temp folder of all files.

    If you have no other Gecko Version installed, delete mozver.dat from C:\WINDOWS.

    Try the install again.

    Let us know if you continue to have problems.

    Hi Dave,

    I'm glad that you were able to install Netscape 7.1. Because you are running Windows XP, with Netscape 7.1, you will need to apply the Shell Protocol vulnerability patch. See this Article:
    What Mozilla users should know about the shell: protocol security issue.

    The article refers to Mozilla and Firefox, but the Patch also works on Netscape 7.1.
