scan disc cant get access

I seem to be having some trouble scaning my hd, when i boot up it says it cannot get full access to my hd.

And also, my machine seems to be crashing when i am on line, or when i disconect. ok i was useing kazaa but then stopped useing it, and tried the bit torrents and that is when my problems started.

I have ran full scans [avg] but no viruses, run adaware no joy, and spybot s&d
but still nothing i dont realy want to format do u think i could get away with installing windows over my current one ?.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Try booting to the recovery console and run chkdsk on your C drive.
Boot off the Windows 2000 CD, and choose Repair, then console. Then login with your administrator account and run chkdsk on the C drive.
