    I recevied the usual Microsoft Newsletter in which the first article was re: the new IE configuration change with a link to the Updates to download it. I used the link but at the page, there were no "critical" or other update downloads shown on this subject. Any advice where to get it and/or why the newsletter said it was available and it was not. I have Windows XP Home edition. Thanks.

    Hi Sissyll
    Welcome to the boards. I can't help you with the newsletter...but instead, open any web page...go up to tools...then windows updates. Click on the "Scan for updates" link on the right...and look to the left for any critical updates that need installing. (They'll be bolded)

    More Here.

    Hi Daizy: thanks, but that is what I did and there was no update there for this new IE configuration download. It said it was there and did used the link to updates, but it was not shown as an available download. :confused:

    Could you have set your system to automatically download & install updates?

    You can check if the update is installed by opening Registry Editor (Start > Run > regedit). Go to this registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ ActiveX Compatibility

    See if there is a key listed named {00000566-0000-0010-8000-00AA006D2EA4}

    If there is, you have the update installed.

    If not, you can find the info here to download the update, or make the change yourself manually: How to disable the ADODB.Stream object from Internet Explorer

    If you have automatic updates enabled, you may already have that update installed.

    To find out, on the Windows Update page, in the left-hand pane, click on "View Installation History" and look for KBB870669.
