I need to move my Netscape Mail to Outlook and have tried the following steps:

    1. Moved email files to Netscape 4.77 ( from 7.1 )
    2. Tried to import files in Outlook Express 5 or 6
    3. Only able to move email in Inbox not subfolders

I have many subfolders in my Netscape email that need to moved to Outlook Express..and then to Outlook. When I tried to import the email folders, I can only import messages in Inbox.

What is the solution to this problem? I was able to do this before using Outlook Express and a version of Netscape..I just cannot remember the version I used.

I have alot of email in my subfolders that must be moved to Outlook.

I am able to see my email subfolders under Inbox in Netscape 4.77

The subfolders have names other than Inbox, and they would be found in the SBD folder, or in other named files. If not seen they may be subfolders of the Inbox. If so, should the files without .msf attachment in the SBD folder be copy/pasted separately, or is there a way to get the subfolders in 4.x, and keep them that way? I have, regularly neglected the SBD folder, with no great loss, but this may be important to others, and I don't see a way to do it.
    Thanks. fp

I followed the instructions concerning the MSF files and cannot import any files to Outlook Express. I also was not even able to import messages in the Inbox folder.

I was able to move messages and subfolders from Netscape 7.1 to 4.77.

The problem appears to be with the import function in Outlook Express.

I am able to see all subfolders in Netscape 4.77 and follwed the instructions concerning the MSF files and email backup from 7.1.

    adnet,

    Did you also do this:

NOTE: you must open the Netscape 4.xx mail folders once
This will create the index files (SNM)
    Close Netscape
Open Outlook Express and Import the files from Netscape 4.xx

    adnet,

See this page: Import Messages From Other E-mail Programs

Using the Outlook Express Import Wizard, you can easily import e-mail messages from a variety of popular Internet e-mail programs, such as Netscape Communicator and Eudora, as well as from Exchange Server and Outlook.

    1. On the File menu, point to Import, and then click Messages.

    2. Select the e-mail program you want to import messages from, and then click Next.

    3. Verify the location of your messages, and then click Next.

    4. Choose All folders to import all the messages, and then click Next. You can also choose Selected Folders to import messages from one or more folders.

    5. Click Finish.

Note: If you are unsure which e-mail program and version you want to import messages from, start the e-mail program. On the Help menu, select About and check the information for program and version.

    Ramona,

I have followed all of the steps you mentioned and cannot import the subfolders using Outlook Express. I have carefully followed each step and was able to move email from 7.1 to 4.77.

I have followed each of the steps you listed.

    Any suggestions?

I am currenty using Outlook Express 6.

    Ramona,

Thank you for the suggestions and information. I was able to move my Netscape email a few months ago using Outlook Express. I have decided to give up on this problem since I cannot resolve it at this time.

Thank you for the detailed information and suggestions.
