I am using Win98SE, and have few problems....almost none...except for the following, which just occurred:
I can get to my Control Panel. I clicked on Add/Remove Programs and got the following message: "Access to the specified device, path or file is denied ".
I tried other icons in Control Panel........with same message.
    Wha' happened????

Run also a full, updated virus scan.
When you are clean of viruses, spywares, and other ****, run "sfc" command. You may have some system file(s) corrupted.

    Control Panel Problem

Thanks for the responses. The very first thing that I did, when I could't access the Control panel icons was to do a virus scan of my system with TrendMicro "Housecall ". I was clean!!!
However, B 4 getting notification of BBS responses, I tried a little-known Win98SE capability......similar to Win Me and XP System Restore.
In Win98SE, I did a "safe-mode" startup by holding down the Ctrl key with a fresh start. Then I chose Command Prompt by hitting the 5 key.
At the C:\ prompt, I typed in: scanreg /restore and then Enter
I was given a choice of dates for the Registry. I chose the previous date, since I had no problems that earlier day. After clicking Restore, I was "back in business ".
BTW, I have a short write-up that enlightens Win98 users. If interested, I can copy/paste it on the thread. Just let me know.
    Again, thank U all.
