    Hi
Was playing Spider Solitaire a couple of week ago, when I was called away. I went to minimise the window, but did something else. What that was I have no idea (age, distraction - terrible combination) but the upshot is that I can either have the Spider Solitaire window maximised or minimised to the task bar - no inbetweens. I have tried every combination of Alt, Esc, tab, windows key, Control, Delete, Insert, my Function & numeral keys, all to no avail. No other windows are affected and I haven't been able to find any advice specific to this problem. Any help would be most appreciated - its not life threatening, just d...d annoying.

In it's Max'd state try getting your mouse pointer on one of the edges so that you can drag it to a smaller size. Or, double click on the Title bar and then try to drag it smaller.

    Hi Steve
Regret the tardy reply, been away. Thank you for the suggestions, but no joy. Guess I'll just live with it for the moment.

Go to the shortcut under games and right click->Properties->and see if the "Run" line is set to Normal Window. If not, change it.

I have had this same thing happen to me. I am assuming that you can click on the middle box in the upper right corner and nothing happens as far as the size of the window is concerned, the window remains full size. I am further assuming that the box will change from a single little window to two little windows.

If this is your situation then set the middle box to the single little window and then you can drag the edges or corners of the window down to the size you want. If you are not familiar with how to do this, you click on an edge or a corner until you get the little double arrow and drag the window in to where you want it. When you close it, it should open back up the way you left it. If not try getting the window to the size you want and hold down the control key while you close the window.

This worked for me. I did discover that I could not change the size if the middle box showed the two little windows.

Thanks Steve, didn't know about that one - but, it was set to Normal Window. Changed it, then changed it back just to make sure it wasn't saying one thing and locked into another - no joy.
Thanks for your suggestions too, Daniel. The situation is not quite as you describe. When open, the game is maximised so that in the top right hand corner I have the standard X for 'Close', the two little windows one on top of the other for 'Restore Down' and the flat bar for 'Minimise'. However, when I click on Restore Down, the window does not resize, it minimises to the task bar. Further, I cannot get the mouse far enough onto an edge to enable the click and drag function.
    Any other suggestions most welcome.
    Cheers

Does the Restore Down box ever show you the single little window? I cannot click and drag the sides of mine unless it is showing.

Does the Minimize box and the Restore Down box always do the same thing, which is minimize to the task bar?

    Hi Daniel,
No - never shows the Maximise box, only the Restore Down.
Yes - both always minimise to the task bar.

Try creating a new shortcut on your desktop.

    Can copy and paste this:
    %SystemRoot%\System32\spider.exe
