    I had w98 as C:, win2000 as D:, and XPpro as E:............

I removed the troubled HD that w98 was on and now win2000 is C: and the old partition D: of XP is setting there in (what's now) D:

I can boot up win2000 after fixing the boot.ini BUT i can't seem to get the D: drive to boot (where XP is setting).

    Some suggestions Please!!

    Thx
    C

    Welcome to Windows Help:):);)

The multiple boot routine was stored on the master boot record (MBR) of the original drive c: Obviously when you removed the original c:, the ability to select your boot O/S went with it. I don't know if reinstalling (over itself) the O/S on what now is d: will reinstall the multible boot routine.
I'm pretty sure completely reinstalling whatever is on d: will reinstate the multiple boot, but there should be another way.
A third party program, such as System Commander will allow you put everything right without reinstalling too much.

Sorry - not too much help here - but Welcome anyway....
