As I understand it, "Norton Personal Firewall does not work well under Windows 2000. "

Is that true even for Norton Personal Firewall 2004 and Windows 2000 Professional with the SP4? In other words, are MS Windows 2000 Professional fully compatible with "Norton Personal Firework 2004 "? If not, are there any workarounds?

Thank you for your help, Lubos.

I wasn't aware there were problems. Could you point to some links with specifics?

Newt, use a search engine, such as Google, and you will find several references, such as:

After you install Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4), you may experience one or both of the following symptoms:
Microsoft Internet Explorer times out while it tries to load a Web page.
Notifications of incoming calls in Windows NetMeeting are delayed by several minutes.

SP4 is incompatible with several earlier Symantec Norton products, including Norton Internet Security 2001, Norton Personal Firewall 2001, and possibly Norton SystemWorks 2001.

    Hello,

I had a quick troll around the www.
Norton has a published compatibility table at
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/DOCID/2000011107215039

From the table, it appears as though all versions of NPF should be compatible with Windows 2000.

The link you post from Microsoft appears to relate to NPF 2001, which has a problem after installing Windows 2000 SP4.
In anycase, MS suggest contacting Norton for a product update.
