ok here is the problem as best as i can tell
    I am running XP pro
i have used Netscape 7.1 for the past year
a little while ago it stopped working, it seemed that it did this when i uninstalled mozilla 7.* but subsequent installations of both have done nothing, even a clean uninstall.
what it does is when you double click the icon (netscape 7.1, netscape aim, mail, radio@...... ) it opens up the netscape 7.1 screen and then nothing happens, i open the task manager and see that netscape.exe is running but it is just taking up memory and processor speed (btw i have pent. 4, 2.4gh). can wait tell the cows come home, granted i dont have any cows, but nothing happens, finally i just kill it by ending the process. Mozilla 7.1 works, firefox works, IE works, just fine. any ideas out there??
    thanks

Please, keep those numbers straight! You say you uninstalled mozilla 7.*. and later Mozilla7.1(it should be 1.7, but who knows?
from what you say, it could be something like http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/ns71startupnot.html from Ramona's site.

    Hi John,

The key to this problem is the GRE file. Did you delete the mozill.org folder? The folder is located here:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org

    Let us know...

 As I posted (to an old thread earlier) I may have discovered the problem, but haven't discovered a solution to it yet.

I have been using Netscape 7.1 since it came out. About a week ago it started freezing on me. I've done everything that Ramona suggested in her thread of Nov 03 to no avail. I discovered by uninstalling Netscape, Moxilla.org, and all the aol components that are preloaded with Netscape. By reloading each component separately, I discovered the culprit was the Netscape Webmail component. As soon as I loaded it, the problems returned. The problems also disappeared upon my removal of the webmail account.

Hope this helps! If anyone out there has a suggestion as to how to clean up the webmail account issue, I'm all ears.

    Mike
