I am after the SiS Advance AC '97 audio accelerator driver for a acer travelmate 270, i went to the Acer website www.acer.com.au and downloaded the audio driver, modem driver and video driver, the modem and video worked fine but the SiS Advance AC '97 audio accelerator driver did not.

    The message i got was

SiS Advance AC '97 audio accelerator driver.exe is not a valid win32 application.

This is the error i get when i try to unzip.

The only thing i can think of is that i loaded the modem first and the website states that i should load the audio before the modem.

I deleted the modem then tried to run the audio driver again and got the same message, the same as above.

Is there any where else i can get this driver from or can anyone see a mistake i have made.

    Thanks in advance.
    Jonno

You might have a corrupted file, did you try downloading it again?

Try this site for your drivers.

AC97 works well with the proper set up for your system, however finding the exact set up for your system can be difficult. Good luck.

My problem is i don't know any other name for this driver, i went to the realtec site and www.sis.com but don't know what i am looking for.

I agree the driver from the acer site could be and probaly is corrupted, but this driver won't even unzip. Where as the others i got from there work fine.

Just did a virus sweep and i'm clean there, also just finished updating windows.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks Jonno

to look for info use msinfo.exe, you just need your mobo specs.
but with realtek you dont need any info, they have all drivers in one big file of 10mb, appropriate driver will install automatically,
or try at http://list.driverguide.com/list/letterR/index.html, they got a realtek driver of 3mb that worked fine with me

Thanks for all the help guys

But the soloution was quite easy, if the Australian site doesn't work go to one of there other sites found a driver that worked in there Pan America division.

    Again thanks for the help.
