I am getting ready to move to a new, faster computer. Really don't want to lose all my stored AutoComplete info and saved login/password info. Does anyone know of a way to export it for use on another machine? (Or new install on the same machine)

    Thanks

Blueberry--There are several different types of History which fall under the generic term "AutoComplete ". And some/much of what I can tell you is dependent on the version of Windows you run--which you have not told us.
The following is based on Win98.
    1) When IE offers to complete URL' s in your Address bar when you start typing the first few letters. These are in your C:\Windows\History folder. However they usually stay there only a few days depending on what you have entered in the box IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab|History section.
    2) The list of Typed URL's that appear in the drop down list when you click the arrow to the right of the Address bar. These are in the Registry, often in two places--HK_Current_User and HK_Users_.Default. In each case you click the + signs in front of Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and then click on Typed URLs. Those keys can be exported as a .reg file (Registry|Export).
    3) Typed Forms/Password info. Again go into the Registry. HK_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider\your logon name (if you have one)\Data. Now the plot thickens since you will probably not be able to identify the information provided (lots of alphanumeric stuff). This also can be exported as a .reg file.
    4) Start|Run commands. I suspect you will not care to transfer these, but again they are in the Registry under "RunMRU " keys.

As mentioned, I do not know whether much of this applies to your present Windows OS, but, even if it does, I would be especially concerned whether your new PC with a new OS will allow import. (A new Registry is not a good thing to mess with.) Maybe someone else has done it.

Thanks for your reply! I should have given more information. I am currently running WinXP Home, and I simply want to keep as much of the AutoComplete data as possible. Not URL's, but data fields, login info and passwords. I am transferring everything to a much faster (Yippee!) machine running WinXP Pro.

    Thanks again.

    All Programs
    Accessories
    System Tools
    Files and Settings Transfer Wizzard

    That should do It.

Blueberry and erodjob--Cannot help either of you based on experience. (I do not run WinXP or NT4.)
The problem with transferring these settings when you upgrade the version of Windows is that the Registry may be different. I think the Registry in WinXP Home is the same as that in WinXP Pro. So maybe installing Pro over Home will just keep those Registry settings. The same could be true for WinNT4, but like I say, I do not know. For either upgrade, you could try creating a .reg file with the data (Registry|Export from Registry Editor) and then, if you have lost the data during the upgrade, merging the .reg file into the new system. I would also think you could just copy your History files and introduce into the new Windows (if they have not been preserved). But I have no experience.
Hopefully someone who does have experience will reply. Maybe that Transfer Wizard mentioned by OLD SALTY is the answer.

They are stored in the Protected Storage registry key.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider\<SID>

<SID> varies, and by default you don't have access to the sub-keys named "Data ", "Data2" and/or more, but you can give yourself full permissions to the <SID> key and it's sub-keys. One of the branch beneath contains the Autocomplete/username/password data and you can export them to REG files if you want. If you are going to merge the data to another profile, note that the <SID> will be different in that profile. Some modifications to the REG file may be necessary.
