Windows 2000 server acting as print server. HP G95 printer connected to Jetdirect box on network.

    Jetdirect box has issued IP.

Test page can be printed to printer using local Admin account on server.

Users of network can install printer, but can't print anything. Even if they are members of the local admin group.

In the printer dialogue, it flashes 'spooling' then 'deleted - printed'.But nothing has printed out and this item sits in the print dialogue until its cancelled.

I have reinstalled the printer 5 times on the server - no difference
I have restarted the Spooling service on the server - no difference

If I 'turn off' the spooling on the server and set it to print 'direct to printer' it works for all users on the network. Thing is it did work up until 1 user sent a large file to the printer a few weeks ago and it 'hung'. To resolve this item we reinstalled the printer on the server and restarted the spooling service.

    Any ideas whats happened?

WHen the users install the printer, are they using the HP cd?

Long shot, but you might try sharing out this folder on the server:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers

The users don't use the CD. The drivers are on the server and are 'copied' from there.

Will look at that folders properties.

    Any more ideas?

I'd try installing the HP software directly on one of the Client computers and try printing from that computer directly to the JetDirect box.

If it prints ok, the problem is at the server. If not the problem is not server related: print drivers, Jetdirect box, printer or network.
