Please Help - Messenger of some kind

Hello,
I have just bought a new computer. This computer runs on Windows Xp Pro. My problem is that, whenever i get on to the internet (i dont have to open a page) a pop-up comes onto my screen. Some times on my computer there is lots of these messages. These messages all seem to be all on the same subject, virus. The messages all say stuff like you have a virus on your computer, you have 43 minutes, go to www2.spyware.com and lots of other stuff. I'm not to sure about that web adress i just gave you thoe. This messenger thing is really anoying. Another problem is i am not aloud to download things on to the computer so any help that doesnt envolve downloading will be greatly exepted.

Those are messenger service popups, it sounds like, use the same advice
shadowhawk gave Roy in the other thread, simply disable messenger service.
How to Disable Windows Messenger Service: http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/docs/messagepopup/
then you could also get "shoot the messenger" to. (i had to do both)

Thanks very much for your help. I think the info that the Shadow... person said has fixed it. I am not aloud to download becuase i has a lot of business infomation in the network. The business infomation is very confidential.
