When I inquire on various web sites, I am not only getting
the appropriate letters&numbers but also little cubes/boxes
    in place of letters&numbers. Exmpl...on a weather site...I
get... High =0000 Low =OOOO OOOOOOOO OOO=94 and
OOOO OOOO=70. Do you know what I can do to correct
this? I scanned with Norton Anti-Virus but came up OK.

If you haven't already, try scanning with Adaware AND Spybot Search and Destroy, use google search to fine em. Free downloads.

Give us the URL for one or two of the problem sites and we can see if we also have problems.
You could also try Right click|View Source and see if you find the 0's and boxes in the source.

might this be a fonts or language related issue?

the description is very like what I see if I view a page where (eg) Chinese text support is required - I answer "No" when it prompts me to install Chinese, as a result I see lots of little boxes for the characters which I cannot display

    Hi Rex

not me that has the problem, I was only trying to suggest that Joe's little boxes are "can't do it in this font" or "haven't got the language pack" square box symbols... the ones he seems to indicate as the larger circles in the post

    if it's boxes like these

    best wishes, HJ

    Sori.

The original poster might've died, no responses or lost interest in fixing it.
