Lately every now and then my system boots up in safe mode and tells me that I may want to check my network settings. Nothing seems to be wrong and when I re boot from safe mode my windows 98SE comes up ok. Isn't there a way to boot up in dos and see each step of the boot up to see what may be causing the problem?

    Thanks,

    Marvin

    Hi Marvin ...

In answer to your question, if you hold down the cntrl key while booting you will be presented with a menu that offers several choices, one of which is step by step confirmation and another which will write a bootlog.txt file to your C:\ directory ...

out of curiousty, does it ever run scandisk from Dos before booting to safe mode?

    Cheers

Thanks Jake, no it does not run scandisk in dos before booting up in safe mode, the safe mode just comes up in place of the regular windows.

    Question...?

    Marvin....

Been racking my brain, seems I've bumped into this somewhere along the line before .... was this thing ever or is it now connected to a lan.....or does it have a lan card in it?

one of those annoying things....like the answer is right there but can't put my finger on it ....

    Cheers
    Jake
