Messenger Virus

    Hello,
    When ever i get on to the internet a thing comes up on the screen. This thing says stuff like. You have a virus on your computer, go to ww3.spyware.com, all of this stuff. :mad: It is so anoying. what kind of program would this be linked to and is there any way to get rid of this problem. I will love any help that i can get.

    Aj,

    Do you have anti virus software installed on your system? If so, run it and see what it finds. If this is spyware, you can also run Ad-Aware to eliminate the pop ups.

    Get rid of the Windows Messaging service by following these steps:



    Windows XP Home

    1. Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel
    2. Click Performance and Maintenance
    3. Click Administrative Tools
    4. Double click Services Scroll
    5. down and highlight "Messenger "
    6. Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
    7. Click the STOP button.
    8. Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
    9. Click OK



    Windows XP Professional
    1. Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel

    Hi All,

    This is roy66 replying.
    Thanks very much for your responses to this posting which was actually posted from my computer by my grandson on his recent visit.

    As he has now subscribed to this fabulous site he will now renew this posting under his username....BoStOnAj.

    Hopefully ongoing responses will find their way to his email address rather than mine..if not no big deal, no worries.
