    Hi Firedancer...

I think this is what your looking for...

    1) Look for a file on your hard drive called "MSDOS.SYS ". Should be under root of C:
    2) Right-click on file, left-click Properties, and deselect the "Read-Only attribute. ALternatively you can from a DOS prompt enter -->attrib -r -s -h C:\MSDOS.SYS
    3) Open and edit the file with Notepad
    4) Look for the line "LOGO=1" (a) To turn OFF the splash screen simply change the 1 to a 0 (zero). (b) If you can't find the line enter it manually...just below the line [Options] add LOGO=0.
    5) Save the file then re-add the "Read-only attribute. Again alternatively you can from a DOS prompt enter -->attrib +r +s +h C:\MSDOS.SYS

You can also install TweakUI for Win98 and one of the options will also turn off the splash screen.

    dobhar,

Thanks so much for the reply,

I went ahead and used your link for Tweak UI and it worked wonderfully, I decided to try that rather then going into folders and editing files myself that I wasnt to familiar with. Best of all I can just go into Tweak UI if I want and restore defaults.

    Thanks again and regards,
    FireDancer :D

I installed Winlogo and in reading the help file I am not sure I understand the directions that are written about the defaults. Hope this doesnt seem stupid.

This is what is written maybe you can give more clear instructions.

    1)Install Winlogochanger 1.2
    2)Run Winlogo.exe and exit
    3)Open two instances of Explorer
4)Open "Defaults" directory in one Explorer
5)Locate and open the directory where you installed the new version
of Winlogochanger. You will see two sub_directories
(Logosets and Originals). Open the "Logosets" sub_directory
6)Using drag&Drop Move/copy all the directories under "Defaults" directory
    onto "Logosets" directory.
7)Run Winlogochanger again. If you see your logo sets in the logo sets
list box, proceed to delete "Defaults" directory

    Regards,
    FireDancer

I'm gald it worked out for you. I use TweakUI for WinXP and love the way it alows me to make subtle tweaks.

If you like TweakUI...you might like to try X-Setup Pro. I'm using version 6.5.200.Final1 but 6.6 is out. Best of all it's free for non-commercial use.

I don't remember going through all those hoops. I'd just install it and run the thing. Remember, it was designed for an AT power system. So the last two screens don't matter. Your computer will shutdown too fast.

On the first screen, just browse for an image and hit install. Close it. End of story. If you want to go back to orginal, just hit that little button.

This used to be my start screen.
