I have Win XP Home, AV 2003 from Norton. Lately I have noticed that the Norton program is taking longer and longer to load when I start up the PC. It's gotten to the point that it's annoying. This morning, after all other things loaded, the Norton Icon didn't appear until 1 minutes and 20 second later. This makes a full start to "go" almost three minutes. This is not as it has been.

The older versions of Norton had a check for "scan for viruses on Start" or something to that nature. I can't find such a thing on the 2003.

I only have 6 startups as shown on WinPatrol and all but the AV jump in there quickly. I would expect to see something in the errors as TrueVector Services but nothing there. Only a Service Control Mgr error. Don't know what that is.

My thought is to uninstall and reinstall, hoping something good will happen. It will probably make something worse in my case. I would appreciate suggestions/recommendations to correct this.

    Hi Mudd
Did you make any progress with this problem? I did a quick search for you, and see that many complain of the same thing. See here and here. But I've not run across a definitive solution yet. How about you?

Ma'am, for another reason I had to reformat recently after I posted that. After putting all back in, the NAV is still lazy.

It hasn't always been this way. I'm thinking that maybe Norton has with some of their update changed something that causes this.

Everything loads quickly except for NAV. I usually wait at least a minute, sometime longer for it to load so I'm believing it is just this way and there is not a cure!

Thank you for the response. :)
