Have old 500 Mhzx ASUS MB with Ali chipset. Replaced it with a MSI K2-MM MB and a much faster processor. On startup, I get the BSOD, which, I presume has to do with the new MB and video setup. This box has a bunch of data and applications. Is there any way to load the new MB and video drivers into the existing setup. I can't even get to the safe mode. I know that I can load a new copy of 2K, but I've got 10 of these boxes, and I'd like to avoid having to reload all of the software.

The BSOD screen error is Inaccessible_Boot_Device. I can use the W2K disk to get to the repair process, but then I don't know what to do.

    Any quick insights?

    Thanks

Strange that the error is Inaccessible_Boot_Device. It not's something silly like you connecting the IDE cable to the Secondard IDE port rather than the Primary and this upsetting the settings in your boot.ini?

No, I've checked the error with the MSKB and it fits. The IDE drivers for the old system were the Ali chipset, for the new system they are a Via chipset. The MSKB article for this error says that you can't change MB chipsets without reinstalling windows. The KB says that if you want to change MBs, you should change them within the same chipset family, which makes sense. I went to this MSI MB, because it allowed me to salvage the memory. All I had ro replace was the MB and processor. So, being both cheap and lazy, I was hoping that someone knew of a way to handle the problem without reinstalling windows and all of the apps.
