Administrative Password

I am new to this site.. Someone installed Windows XP into my computer. They however did not give me the password for my username. I went to download something and it said "Please try installing AIM when logged into Windows with administrator's rights. ". Now I do not have the password for the administrative username. I have read that the only way to download what I was going to download is if I uninstall Windows XP and re-install it. Well Do you have to be on the administrative username to uninstall it? and I do not have 300 dollars to go and buy the software. Is there any alternative? A way to get my password?

Get on the phone to them and ask for it!

A slim chance is that they may not have used a password for the admin account, which is what I do, where unauthorised use is not an issue.

How many users log into that computer? Go into your control panel under user accounts. What all is listed in there? Is one of the users listed with administrator rights? Are you able to log on using that name?
