Excel entering data

    I don't think this has been happening with Excel in Office XP, before but if it has not, I want to fix it ;)

    When I attempt to enter data or correct the data in a cell, the cursor drops down to the cell below, at once, instead of staying in the correct entry cell. The data DOES go where it should but the appearance is confusing.

    This happens even if there is data in the APPARENT entry cell and that data is not disturbed. When I ENTER, the data does appear where it should.

    If it happens after you key 'enter' then that's the default in Excel. To change it go to tools, options, edit and change it.

    No, I do have that default set to RIGHT and know how and when to change it. This happens as soon as I hit the first key that I want to place into that cell.

    I suppose you've tried Detect and Repair? It sounds like a programme corruption to me.
