You can press the Print Screen (or Prnt Scr) key on the keyboard which copies an image of what's displayed on the monitor to the clipboard. Then paste that into any graphics program...Paint, Irfanview, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro...whatever you have.

To capture only the active window, press Alt and Print Screen.

Or use SnagIt, which gets good reviews from its users.

    Alternative

I use alt-prtscreen which just takes the top window instead of the whole screen, and I paste it into wordpad (ctrl-v)

I do much the same as Sparrow with either alt-print screen or ctrl-print screen depending on what I want but I paste the results into Irfanview rather than wordpad. Easier for me to work with the screen print and save it as a graphics file that way.

I use Alt / PrtScn in combination with Word...then use Word to save the file an HTML page. This is the method I use to create to create Work Instructions here at work. This process will also save the files that I Alt / PrtScn'd as a graphic (jpg...etc) file which can also allow me to edit the graphic file.

I agree with Johanna. gadwins print screen is so easy to use and configuration is a doddle. Best of all it's free with no limitations
