    Hi Guys!

I have an Athlon 1600 + on a VIA Motherboard with 128 DDRAM and a 64 MB mmx geForce. I recently installed Windows XP without any problems. The only strange thing is that whenever I click to Shutdown the machine, instead of turning off it simply restarts. During the shutdown process the CDROM starts spinning maddly. It works sometimes ( 1 in 10 aprox ) but most of the time it simply restarts. What could be the problem ?

    Thanks

Found the following on the MSKB site.
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311806&Product=winxp

Unrelated... I would strongly suggest you up your memory to a minimum of 256MB. Your PC will thank you for it. ;) 128 is really the bare minimum to run XP. With only 128 you won't be getting the speed/responsiveness you should with an Athlon 1600.

Make sure you update your drivers (if you haven't already) with newer than those supplied with XP. Windows update may detect and suggest some driver updates, others you will need to manually check for updates, including VIA chipset updates from viatech.com (if it's a north and south VIA chip) or the MB vendor site.

Look here for a start and configure your PC not to restart on Error, then post any error messages of the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) here.
