Downloaded and put it on for someone this week. I did notice that the full fledged firewall(with popup blocker and cookie manager, etc.) is now only a fifteen day trial, much to my disappointment. :( You now get the light version free.

I noticed on their site that they have EZ Firewall 4.5 so I tried to get an upgrade from 3.7 so I got a new welcome letter. It directed me to EZArmorLE.exe!! When I downloaded it last year it was EZArmor.exe. So I started playing email tag with the support people. They sent me to three links for EZArmor.exe which was the same as the original. I informed them I could get that one with my original welcome email link and wanted the upgrade. I guess since I got it from Microsoft I am dead in the water. Then I asked if I would be able to upgrade when it was time to renew and never got a clear answer. Just a bunch of gibberish about only people(retail customers) with individual downloads of the firewall and virus software could upgrade.
I'm only half tempted to uninstall mine and put LE on there just to see what it looks like. My 3.7 has all the options and it looks like LE is missing some. The site is hard to navigate and frustrating. I could only find a comparison between 4.5 and LE. 4.5 is a huge upgrade from 3.7. The eTrust virus software can't be upgraded either.
I was pretty clear about canceling my subscription upon renewal without a guarantee of upgrading and still didn't get a straight answer. Well I have until November to decide what I'm going to do.

If you order the free MS Security Updates CD (offered in February
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp ) you will also get a EZ Armor LE CD. I do not know if it has an unlimited period before you must install or whether it means the license runs out June 30, 2005 regardless when you first install.

As far as I know, whenever you re-subcribe to Etrust you are eligible to upgrade to the newest version. I've been using it a long time now and that's the way it's always been for me anyway.

I have been using EZantivirus since the beginning. That is why I put EZArmor on my laptop. I just hate being stuck in limbo when I know there are upgrades. It didn't hurt to try. I did bomb out. It wasn't until I tried to get the upgrade that I realized there were different programs with the same name!

My guess would be that if you're using the free for a year option, you won't be eligible to upgrade until you re-subscribe. This is just a guess on my part but it makes perfect sense to me. After all, it is free and until the time comes that you need to re-subscribe you can still download new defs for it. As long as it's working and you can still update the defs I'd hang onto it and rest assured it's doing it's job. Without searching I don't really know what you're missing from the newest version but I doubt it's anything earth shattering. ;)
